Halloween was a blast. On our Honeymoon, Drummer Man and I found this little hat shop and did not walk out empty handed. DM found a hat that is basically a chicken that sits on top of his head...with the legs falling by his ears. I found a hat that we called psychedelic. all kinds of fun neon colors in fuzzy strands that make me think of the mad hatter. Together we called ourselves the psychedelic chicken. (See honeymoon photo. Those are not the outfits we wore on Halloween by the way...just the HATS!)
So for Halloween we could not find an appropriate peanut costume for our little guy. Thus we adapted to the circumstances. WE found an adorable little chick (as in chicken!) costume and DM found a tie-die t-shirt with a big smiley face on the front. Put it all together and add mom and pop and we turned into the funky chicken family! (Yes, psychedelic turned into just funky.)
We sat in our front yard (yea--no snow that day!) and had a huge bowl of candy (that held chips at our wedding fiesta) and the clucking peanut guarded the candy.... and tried to eat it. It was hilarious, some of the kids were afraid to take some candy because he was there! So the clucking peanut was removed from the candy bowl and then as kids would reach in for the candy DM would bounce the bowl into their faces and yell. Totally freaked them out. We all had a great time.

Awww, how fun you guys!!! What a cute family.
We bought cute Halloween cards for all our nieces and nephews (including an ADORABLE first Halloween for Peanut) but they were lost in the great move of '08. Maybe next year? :)
